The Mombasa Project
Seeking a “reality check” from the opulent go-go gay lifestyles of Los Angeles and New York City, Nima Daivari, then a law student, spent 6 weeks in Mombasa, Kenya volunteering at the Dickson Children’s Center. What he found was much more than he bargained for—heartbreak, upper middle class guilt, Lady Gaga withdrawal, hard manual labor and Kenyan orphan diarrhea.
Nima is about to embark on his 4th annual trip to the abuse, the poverty, the inhumanity…and to the happiest, funniest, sweetest children he’s ever met.
This one man show will tell the duck out of water tale of a big city queerling who thought “home” was the hottest nightclubs in town only to find what he was looking for was actually in a Kenyan slum.
According to Nima, he “will probably perform the show shirtless; pantless upon request.”
Playwrights 6 is proud to fiscally sponsor Nima Daivari trip’s and resulting one-man show.
