MONICA TRASANDES is a Los Angeles-based writer. Born in Uruguay, her family relocated to the U.S. in the ’70s and she grew up in San Diego. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College in Boston, and works as Director of Spanish-language media at GLADD. Her short stories have been published in journals such as The Sun, and magazines like The Rake in Minneapolis, and have been anthologized. Her novel, “Broken Like This,” is to be published by Thomas Dunne Books in Spring, 2012.

Trasandes, a P6 founding member is one of the featured writers in Wanted: Writers! a Literary Reading Series. This event is free and open to the public at the Rumours Coffee House/Gallery/Performance Space, 11739 West Washington Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90066, Wednesday, August 17, from 7pm -930pm.

P6′s Laura Black’s short film “Slight will make it’s world premiere at the Action on Film International Film Festival on Saturday, July 23rd at 6pm. The screening is part of the block of shorts shown at the Regency Academy Theatres, Theatre 5, 1003 E. Colorado Blvd, Pasadena CA.

In addition to making it’s world premiere, “Slight” has been nominated as “Best Short-Short” and star, longtime P6 actor Barry Saltzman has been nominated for 2 awards: “Best Actor” and “Best Villain”

Playwrights 6 and The Open Fist Theatre Company are proud to present our first-ever co-production!

“Drive” opens May 4 and runs Wednesday nights at 8pm through June 8.
“Fernando Richardson’s Treacherous Brain” opens May 5 and runs Thursday nights at 8pm through June 9.

“Drive” is written and directed by Laura Black and stars Jane Hajduk, Beth Robbins, Susan Sommer, Barry Saltzman, AlgeRita Lewis, Allison Mattox, Coronado Romero and Joseph Beck.

“Fernando Richardson’s Treacherous Brain” is written by Monica Trasandes, directed by Andre Barron and stars Roberto Montesinos, Amy Chaffee, Mark Slater, Paula Fins, Karla Zamudio and Lyn Michele Ross.
